Track trends for 5 days, ride one for a brand

Social teams live on trend-jacking — spotting what’s rising and responding fast without embarrassing the brand. Track real trends for 5 days, log them, then use AI to draft 3 timely content pieces that ride one trend for a brand you pick — edited until they’re brand-safe.

The work brief

  1. 01Pick a brand (real or your own). For 5 days, log trends daily from 2+ sources: Instagram Reels audio, X/Twitter trends, Google Trends, YouTube trending.
  2. 02For each logged trend note: what it is, why it’s rising, fit score for your brand (and when the fit is bad — say so).
  3. 03Pick the best-fit trend and create 3 pieces riding it: a reel script, a post + caption, a story/poll. Use AI for drafts, then make them brand-safe.
  4. 04Explain your timing call: is the trend still alive by the time you’d post, and what’s the risk?

What you’ll produce

Submission standard

Submit the 5-day trend log with a screenshot of one trend source, the 3 content pieces, and your timing/risk call. Also include your AI workflow — tools, best prompts, and what you changed from the AI’s output. Include a second dated screenshot from a different day, and make sure at least one logged trend is one you judged a bad fit and rejected.

  • Your 5-day trend log: date, trend, source, why rising, brand-fit score

Date every entry. Include at least one trend you judged a BAD fit and rejected — real tracking has misses.

    Written responseRequired
  • Screenshot of one trend as you found it (with visible date if possible)

Screenshot must have a visible date and show the real source (Reels audio page, X trends, Google Trends, etc.).

    Image uploadRequired
  • The 3 content pieces riding your chosen trend

    Written responseRequired
  • Your timing and risk call: why this trend, why now, what could go wrong

    Written responseRequired

You’ll complete these inside your private workspace.

What you must submit as proof

This brief requires evidence an AI can’t fabricate.

  • A second dated screenshot from a DIFFERENT day’s trend

Must show a different visible date from your first proof, evidencing multi-day tracking.

    Image uploadRequired

Submissions without this evidence cannot be submitted.

Protect other people in your proof. Blur faces, names, phone numbers and email addresses before you upload, and refer to anyone you worked with by role or number ("Listener 1", "the stall owner"). Your proof is only ever used to check your work — it is never published, never appears on your certificate, and is never shown in your public portfolio.

How your work is evaluated

The passing benchmark is 70/100.

Real trend tracking

29%

The log reflects real, current trends observed over multiple days.

Brand fit judgement

14%

Fit scores show taste — including rejecting bad-fit trends.

Content execution

29%

The 3 pieces genuinely ride the trend in the brand’s voice.

Real multi-day tracking

29%

The two screenshots carry different real dates and the log shows real-world drift (trends that fizzled, bad-fit rejections). If the dates aren’t distinct or the log reads flat/invented, this criterion is a fail regardless of the content pieces.

How we grade your AI usage

30% of your score

Using AI is the point — it’s the skill this certificate proves. You’ll answer three short questions about how you used it: what you asked, what was wrong with its first answer, and what you changed. Specific, honest answers score high. “I pasted the brief and submitted the answer” scores near zero.
