Turn your phone into a product photo studio

Every seller needs product photos; almost none can afford a studio. Shoot one real product 10 different ways with just your phone and household lighting, then edit the best 3 with AI tools into listing-ready shots.

The work brief

  1. 01Pick a real physical product (something from home or a family shop) and study 3 reference listings whose photos you admire.
  2. 02Shoot 10+ genuinely different setups: window light vs lamp, backgrounds (white paper, fabric, outdoors), angles, close-up details.
  3. 03Pick the best 3 and edit with AI tools: background cleanup, lighting correction, crop for listing format.
  4. 04Document what you learned about light — where the light came from in your best and worst shots.

What you’ll produce

3 deliverables

Submission standard

Submit your contact sheet of raw shots, the 3 finished photos, and your lighting notes, plus your AI workflow. Include a handwritten name-and-date slip beside the product in at least one raw frame, and add a screenshot of your editing tool open on one of your own shots.

  • Contact sheet: your 10+ raw shots in one grid image

In at least ONE of the raw frames, place a handwritten slip beside the product showing your name and today's date — this proves a real shoot, not AI-generated product images. Frames with no such marker and no real-world lighting variation fail.

    Image uploadRequired
  • The 3 finished, listing-ready photos in one image

    Image uploadRequired
  • Lighting notes: setups that worked/failed and why, plus what the AI edit fixed vs. what only reshooting could

    Written responseRequired

You’ll complete these inside your private workspace.

What you must submit as proof

This brief requires evidence an AI can’t fabricate.

  • Screenshot of your OWN editing tool with the real product loaded — tool interface and today's date visible

Show remove.bg / Canva / Snapseed actually open on one of YOUR shots, with the tool UI and system date visible, not just the exported final.

    Image uploadRequired

Submissions without this evidence cannot be submitted.

Protect other people in your proof. Blur faces, names, phone numbers and email addresses before you upload, and refer to anyone you worked with by role or number ("Listener 1", "the stall owner"). Your proof is only ever used to check your work — it is never published, never appears on your certificate, and is never shown in your public portfolio.

How your work is evaluated

The passing benchmark is 70/100.

Real exploration

29%

The contact sheet shows 10+ genuinely different real setups.

Listing quality

29%

The 3 finals would genuinely work on a real listing.

Light literacy

14%

The notes show real understanding of what light did in each shot.

Real shoot, not synthetic

29%

Auto-fail if the frames look AI-generated (no dated handwritten marker, implausible or repeated lighting), or if the edit screenshot does not show the real product open in a real tool. The finals must be recognisably the same physical product as the contact sheet.

How we grade your AI usage

30% of your score

Using AI is the point — it’s the skill this certificate proves. You’ll answer three short questions about how you used it: what you asked, what was wrong with its first answer, and what you changed. Specific, honest answers score high. “I pasted the brief and submitted the answer” scores near zero.
