Interview a real person about AI at work

Talk to a real working adult — a shopkeeper, teacher, doctor, office worker — about how AI is changing their job. Use AI to prepare, but the interview has to actually happen.

The work brief

  1. 01Pick someone who works (family, neighbour, local business owner) and get 15 minutes with them.
  2. 02Use AI to draft 8-10 interview questions, then cut and improve them yourself.
  3. 03Do the interview. Take notes — capture their exact words for at least 3 quotes.
  4. 04Write what surprised you, and where their reality differs from what AI told you to expect.

What you’ll produce

4 deliverables

Submission standard

Submit who you interviewed, your questions, your interview notes with direct quotes, and your takeaways. Invented interviews are easy to spot — real conversations have messy, specific details. Include a link to a recording or a photo of the interview (unlisted is fine) so we know the conversation really happened.

  • Who you interviewed (role + workplace type — no need for full name)

    Short answerRequired
  • Your final interview questions (and what you changed from the AI draft)

    Written responseRequired
  • Interview notes, including at least 3 direct quotes

Notes with at least 3 verbatim quotes that match the recording/photo you link below.

    Written responseRequired
  • What surprised you? Where did their reality differ from AI’s predictions?

    Written responseRequired

You’ll complete these inside your private workspace.

What you must submit as proof

This brief requires evidence an AI can’t fabricate.

  • Link proving the interview happened (unlisted recording preferred)

An unlisted audio/video recording (Google Drive/YouTube) — audio alone is enough. Or a hosted photo of you with them, face blurred. Ask permission first; never include their full name, number, or email.

    Public linkRequired

Submissions without this evidence cannot be submitted.

Protect other people in your proof. Blur faces, names, phone numbers and email addresses before you upload, and refer to anyone you worked with by role or number ("Listener 1", "the stall owner"). Your proof is only ever used to check your work — it is never published, never appears on your certificate, and is never shown in your public portfolio.

How your work is evaluated

The passing benchmark is 70/100.

Real interview

25%

Notes have the texture of a real conversation — specific details, real quotes.

Question craft

13%

Questions are open, specific, and improved beyond the AI draft.

Insight

25%

Takeaways connect the person’s reality to what the student learned about AI.

Proof the interview happened

38%

Auto-fail if there is no working proof link, or it doesn't correspond to the notes and quotes (interview reads invented).

How we grade your AI usage

30% of your score

Using AI is the point — it’s the skill this certificate proves. You’ll answer three short questions about how you used it: what you asked, what was wrong with its first answer, and what you changed. Specific, honest answers score high. “I pasted the brief and submitted the answer” scores near zero.
