Micro-internship brief ≈6h in one sittingno-code

Design one message for three real-world formats

Take one real message and redesign it for three very different outputs: a black-and-white photocopy, a tiny circular profile image, and a banner that must be understood in 3 seconds. Use AI for starting directions, then adapt each version yourself.

The work brief

  1. 01Pick one real message worth spreading (an event, a service, a cause) and generate starting directions with an AI image tool — no generator knows your constraints; the redesigns are yours.
  2. 02Version 1 — Photocopy: pure black and white, and able to survive the cheapest photocopy available locally. No greys that vanish.
  3. 03Version 2 — Tiny circle: legible as a small profile image (test by actually shrinking it on your phone).
  4. 04Version 3 — Roadside banner: readable in 3 seconds at distance (test across the room). Then write what each constraint forced you to sacrifice and discover.

What you’ll produce

Submission standard

Submit all three versions in one image, your real-size test evidence, and the constraint lessons, plus your AI workflow. Also submit the public Canva view-link to your file and a screenshot of your own editor showing your account name and today's date.

  • The one message, and where each version would really live

    Short answerRequired
  • All 3 versions, labelled, in one image

    Image uploadRequired
  • Test evidence: photo of the DP-size test on your phone and/or the across-the-room test

Show your real-size tests as a photo of your phone (with the profile image shrunk on-screen) and/or the across-the-room shot, with your hand or device and today's date visible — a re-exported thumbnail is not a test and fails.

    Image uploadRequired
  • Per constraint: what you sacrificed, what the constraint taught you

    Written responseRequired

You’ll complete these inside your private workspace.

What you must submit as proof

This brief requires evidence an AI can’t fabricate.

  • Public Canva view-link to the file holding all 3 versions

Canva 'Share > Anyone with the link can view'. Must open to YOUR editable file with all three versions — a dead or private link fails.

    Public linkRequired
  • Screenshot of your OWN Canva editor building the versions — account name and today's date visible

Show the live canvas with your username and system date, not just the exported versions.

    Image uploadRequired

Submissions without this evidence cannot be submitted.

Protect other people in your proof. Blur faces, names, phone numbers and email addresses before you upload, and refer to anyone you worked with by role or number ("Listener 1", "the stall owner"). Your proof is only ever used to check your work — it is never published, never appears on your certificate, and is never shown in your public portfolio.

How your work is evaluated

The passing benchmark is 70/100.

True adaptation

29%

Each version is genuinely re-designed for its constraint, not resized.

Real-size testing

29%

The versions were actually tested at real size/distance.

Constraint literacy

14%

The lessons show real understanding of designing under limits.

First-party provenance

29%

Auto-fail if the versions have no live editable file, if the editor screenshot lacks account/date, or if the size test is a re-exported thumbnail rather than a real photographed test.

How we grade your AI usage

30% of your score

Using AI is the point — it’s the skill this certificate proves. You’ll answer three short questions about how you used it: what you asked, what was wrong with its first answer, and what you changed. Specific, honest answers score high. “I pasted the brief and submitted the answer” scores near zero.
