Build a mini style guide for a real business
Consistency is what separates a brand from a bunch of posts. Build a one-page style guide for a real local business: AI proposes palettes and font pairings, you choose and contrast-check, then set the logo rules and do/don’t examples.

The work brief
- 01Pick a real local business and study what visual identity it already accidentally has (photos, boards, packaging).
- 02Build the palette with AI proposals you edit: ask for 3 options that fit the personality, tune your pick to 4-5 colours with hex codes, and check text/background pairs in a contrast checker (WebAIM) — screenshot the passing result.
- 03Pick 2 free fonts (heading + body) that fit the business’s personality — ask AI for pairings, reject what doesn’t fit — and write the usage rule for each.
- 04Assemble the one-page guide with 2 do/don’t example pairs, made with AI + Canva.
What you’ll produce
Submission standard
Submit the business, the style guide as an image, the contrast-check screenshot, and your reasoning, plus your AI workflow. Also submit the public Canva view-link to your style guide and a screenshot of your own editor showing your account name and today's date.
The business and its personality in one line
Short answerRequiredThe one-page style guide (palette + fonts + rules + do/don’t)
Image uploadRequiredScreenshot of your palette passing the contrast checker
The WebAIM screenshot must show YOUR exact hex codes and the passing ratio, and those hexes must match the palette on your style guide — mismatched or stock values fail.
Image uploadRequiredWhy these colours and fonts for THIS business — and one combination you rejected
Written responseRequired
You’ll complete these inside your private workspace.
What you must submit as proof
This brief requires evidence an AI can’t fabricate.
Public Canva view-link to your one-page style guide
Canva 'Share > Anyone with the link can view'. Must open to YOUR editable guide — a dead or private link fails.
Public linkRequiredScreenshot of your OWN Canva editor building the guide — account name and today's date visible
Show the live canvas with your username and system date, not just the exported page.
Image uploadRequired
Submissions without this evidence cannot be submitted.
Protect other people in your proof. Blur faces, names, phone numbers and email addresses before you upload, and refer to anyone you worked with by role or number ("Listener 1", "the stall owner"). Your proof is only ever used to check your work — it is never published, never appears on your certificate, and is never shown in your public portfolio.
How your work is evaluated
The passing benchmark is 70/100.
Fit to business
29%The identity fits this specific business, not a generic template.
Guide completeness
29%Palette, fonts, rules, and do/don’t pairs all present and usable.
Contrast checked
14%Text/background pairs genuinely pass the checker.
First-party provenance
29%Auto-fail if the guide has no live editable file, if the editor screenshot lacks account/date, or if the WebAIM hexes do not reconcile with the palette on the style guide.
How we grade your AI usage
Using AI is the point — it’s the skill this certificate proves. You’ll answer three short questions about how you used it: what you asked, what was wrong with its first answer, and what you changed. Specific, honest answers score high. “I pasted the brief and submitted the answer” scores near zero.
